Flock is an iPhone app for counting eggs and keeping track of a backyard flock. It is made by one person, Stephen Geluz, trading as Elevated Logic. This page says what the app does with information, in plain words. If anything here is unclear, write to flock@elevatedlogic.ai.
Everything you put into Flock lives in a database on your phone: your flocks, your hens, their photos, hatch dates, notes, egg counts and care tasks. Flock has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of its own. It never uploads your records anywhere. If you delete the app, the records go with it.
Your phone's own iCloud or iTunes backup includes Flock's records, the same way it includes any app's. That is Apple's backup, under your Apple Account, and Flock has no access to it.
The home-screen widget reads today's count from a small shared store on your phone so it can show the number without opening the app. That store never leaves the phone either.
Flock Premium is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; Flock never sees your card or your Apple Account details.
To know whether your phone has an active purchase, Flock uses a service called RevenueCat. When you buy, restore or open the paywall, RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt Apple issues and a random identifier it makes up for your install. It records which product was bought and when, so that premium unlocks on your phone and stays unlocked. That record is not tied to your name, email or anything else about you, and it is not used for advertising or tracking. RevenueCat's own privacy policy is at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
To know whether the app is working as an app, Flock sends six small signals to a service called TelemetryDeck:
Each signal is only the name of the event. It carries no identifier for you or your phone, no account, no flock or hen names, no egg counts, no photos and no location. Every install sends the same fixed label, so the counts cannot be pulled apart into individual people, by me or by anyone else. TelemetryDeck's privacy policy is at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
Those six signals are the only thing Flock sends anywhere on its own.
The camera, if you choose to take a photo of a hen. Photos are saved inside the app on your phone. Picking a photo from your library uses Apple's picker and needs no permission of its own.
Notifications, if you turn on care reminders. Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself. Nothing about them is sent anywhere.
Flock is not directed at children under 13 and collects nothing about anyone's age.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the new text is here. A change that meant Flock collected more than it does today would also be announced in the app before it took effect.
